Description

In this lesson, SS are going to talk about where do they like to travel and why? Then they are going to learn new vocabularies and after that they are going to read a reading about Corsica island, they have to find the main idea of the reading and because it's a persuasive reading, they have to find three reasons in the text that persuades others to travel to Corsica. After becoming familiar with the structure, SS are going to do an exercise about themselves and then they are going to write a paragraph at the class.

Main Aims

  • SS learn how to write a persuasive writing and use different reasons to persuade others, they also are going to learn to find the main opinion of the text.

Subsidiary Aims

  • SS are going to learn new vocabularies and phrases and use them in their writing.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher is going to talk about her favorite travel destination and her favorite city/country. Then the teacher is going to ask students where do they like to travel and why?

Highlighting (1-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

The teacher is going to talk about new words and ask for student's help to say the words

Clarification (1-4 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

The teacher is going to set a scene for reading a model text and ask SS to find the main opinion and 3 reasons which support the main opinion. Then the teacher is going to talk about the layout and useful phrases etc in the text.

Controlled Practice (1-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

SS are going to choose a country/city etc and start writing the main opinion and 3 reasons to persuade others travel to those places and then tell them to WC. Then they are going to write a paragraph by using their written opinion and reasons.

Free Practice (6-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

SS are going to talk about the best vacation they have ever had. they are going to describe their vacation and persuade their classmates to travel to those areas.
