Main Aims

To provide clarification and practice of Be going to

Subsidiary Aims

To provide gist and specific information listening practice using a text about plan and prediction in the context of Travel

Procedure (15-23 minutes)

Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

the teacher talks about his/her plan for next week and in this way uses the structure of "Be Going to" then asks the students about their plans for next week.

Exposure (1-2 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

the teacher says to students that look at the picture of listening section and asks " what are these two people talking about?"

Highlighting (1-2 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

the teacher asks students to listen to a file and answer to this question:" which city is he in?" Then the teacher writes on the board "Be going to" then gives the tape scripts to students and asks them to underline the structure of "Be going to".

Clarification (3-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

the teacher explains the grammar rule, then says to students to look at the T or F question of listening part, then plays the file again.

Controlled Practice (1-2 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The teacher asks students to answer the T or F questions firstly and after that answer the questions of practice 3.5. Finally, the teacher checks the answers with students

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

the teacher says students that imagine you work for a tour agency and you have to prepare a tour for some layovers what are your plan? for example about the palaces you should visit, about the lunch and etc.
