Procedure (47-63 minutes)
T directs SS attention to the questions on screen: Have you ever lost or forgotten any personal item? When did it happen? In your opinion, why did it happen? T elicits answers and provides correction on the spot when necessary.
SS are asked to determine if the statements provided on screen are true or not. SS work in BORs. T monitors and helps when needed. T elicits answers.
T directs SS attention to the sentences on screen written with modal verbs. SS are asked to read them one more time and answer these CCQs: Do these sentences I providing information that is 100% true? Do these sentences provide a statement or a deduction based on possible evidence? In which sentences did we talk about the present? and the past? T elicits answers and corrects when needed.
Meaning Ss are asked to work on a matching activity to determine the purpose of each sentences presented on screen. Form and Use SS are asked to identify the form and use of modal verbs in the present and past through a cline, a table chart completion and three statements on screen for them to complete based on the first samples I provided. Pronunciation T displays on screen two sets of sentences. SS are asked to determine which is the column that contains the correct pronunciation. T provided practice through individual and choral drilling.
Ss are asked to complete a conversation in which they choose which is the most accurate modal verb. Ss work in pairs. T monitors and helps when necessary. T elicits answers in the main room.
T directs SS attention to a set of situations. SS are asked to deduce what might each character in those situations feel? and why problem might have happened for each one of them. SS work in BORs. T monitors and helps when required. T elicits answers in main room.
SS are asked to create a conversation based on one of the situations below. Situation 1 : You have lost one of the most precious possessions your mother has given to you. She's asking you to lend it to her since her friends have arrived home. Make excuses Situation 2: Your boss is asking you to make a presentation with the report you've made which took you about two weeks to finish. You can't find it! It's not even on google drive anymore. SS work in BORs. T monitors and helps when required. SS present their conversations in the main room.
T provides a set of sentences with some mistakes for SS to find and correct. T elicits this chorally.
