Procedure (34-50 minutes)
at this stage i try catch student's attention on the form of my sentences to be aware of present perfect and simple past sentences by asking some questions about their reminiscences and talking about one of my remembrances.i teach 8 regular and irregular verbs here on the board. regular irregular ruin fly demolish know crash blow splurge seek
in this i try to catch student's attention on the form of used sentences in TL context of both simple past and present perfect tenses. also they improve their reading skill by skimming. i give them hand outs here. i show them a picture of Matt and Jess and ask them 3 questions to set the scene for them. after checking handouts, they answer related questions and check them in pairs with their partner.
at this stage, in spite of playing the audio file for students, i give them a teacher made handout of some present perfect sentences and first i read and then we do a drill together. then i teach the present perfect first and then explain its difference with simple past on the board. also, i have to indicate on the tricky grammar point about have you been to or have you gone to Rasht?
i give them the relevant handout about some related questions to present perfect. i divide them into the groups and they are supposed to ask questions of another group, they should remind each other to put the verbs on pp form. then i get their feedback .
here i conduct a free conversation by asking a question by present perfect format and they are expected to talk by present perfect and simple past sentence freely. the topic would be : their life happening and experiences and anything they wanna share to class.
