To provide Ss practice in speaking for fluency in the context of in office
Procedure (37-47 minutes)
Ss look at the lead-in pictures and answer the following questions. - Where is the man? in the taxi. -Where is the woman? She's in the office. - What's she doing? She's calling - Where are the people doing? They are in the office. - What are they doing? They are working.
I'll give the Ss some time to read the text. Then, they'll listen and answer the questions individually. They'll check their answers in pairs. FB with the WC.
- Ss look at the text again to notice the questions and underline them. - After that, Ss will work on the table and do it on their own and later on, they'll check in pairs. - While Ss are on the task, I will draw table on board to their answers and elicit the structure.
Ex 11 . I'll ask the Ss who they think signed the contract Janet or Frank. Then, they will listen. I'll take the FB. Ex 12 a) I''l tell the Ss that the time is 6:30 p.m. the same day. frank is talking to his wife, Karen, on the phone. Ss will work individually. Then, they will check in pairs. b) I'll play the recording . Ss listen and check their answers. c) I'll ask the Ss listen to recording R9.7 and highlight the sentence stress. Later on, they will drill. Ss work in pairs of male to female and role play the conversation.
Ss are in 2 groups. Group A ---------> P. 110 Group B---------> P. 118 Ss sit in two rows back to back. I'll tell the Ss that there are some differences in the 2 pictures. I model the task to the Ss. Ss will ask and answer questions about the 2 pictures.
