Description

In this lesson SS are going to learn superlative & comparative adjectives by using a reading related to The Notting Hill carnival. The teacher is going to write 3 sentences using this grammar and SS are going to guess which one is true and which one is false. SS are going to scan the reading and find those words which are related to the grammar. after the lesson is taught, SS are going to do an exercise and then they will use their speaking skill to talk about the given subject.

Main Aims

To teach superlative & comparative using a reading related to carnival.

SS are going to use their speaking skills to practice more on the lesson.

Procedure (2-16 minutes)

Warmer/Lead-in (0-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher is going to write 3 sentences using 1-comparative 2-as ... as 3-superlative adjectives and students are going to guess which one is true and which one is false.

Highlighting (0-2 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

SS are going to scan the reading and find the adjectives that are related to the grammar. Then they will tell the teacher what words they have found.

Clarification (1-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

The teacher uses the powerpoint and reading part sentences to teach new grammar, The teacher will also use pictures to describe and teach better.

Controlled Practice (0-2 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

SS are going to do a given exercise to practice on the lesson and then they will check their answers with the WC.

Free Practice (1-5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

SS are going to use their speaking skills in this part, They will talk about their family members and also their friends using the grammar. e.g: My dad is taller than my mom.
