Indefinite pronouns
Intermediate level
Description
Materials
Main Aims
-
Teach the students the different indefinite pronouns and when each is used correctly.
-
Use listening skills to have them practice which words are grammatically incorrect within the context.
Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide fluency and accuracy when performing a skit with their group members using the correct indefinite pronouns.
Procedure (45-59 minutes)
I will start the lesson by having them choose a place or person that they can talk about briefly. I will try to elicit from them what they know about indefinite pronouns.
Students will provide the correct answers in writing to the sentences they will be given. The sentences have incorrect indefinite pronouns.
Have the students repeat the indefinite pronouns and make sure they pronounce them correctly.
Show the students sentences that are incorrect and have them explain to me why they are incorrect and how to correct them.
I will show them a picture and have them fill out the missing text (indefinite pronouns) from the paragraph underneath it. They will have a list of words that they can use to fill out the blanks.
The students will be given True and False sentences. They will all be given a chance to read them out loud to the class and then they will share their answers with one another.
Have the students perform short skits from a topic they chose from the list given to them. This will test their knowledge of which indefinite pronouns should be used.
