Procedure (39-49 minutes)
Tell students that we will be focusing on listening and speaking. I will hold up visual aids for each word and elicit a response from students. If they do not know I will tell them the word. Vocab will be repeated continuously, and shuffled. They will not do any writing.
Pass out (p.28 HO) Student will be asked to match the images with the words. I will demonstrate for the first one that coffee is number 3. Once students a have finished I will play (3.17) and have them check their answers. It will be played once more and I will have them repeat to practice pronunciation.
Tell students to look at the photo for one minute. Remember the food and drink. Tell them to turn the page over. Don't look. Work in paris and say all the foods and drinks you can remember.
Now look at the pictures on number three. Do this by yourself. Have them check with partners when they are done. Once they are all done we will check as a class. Mini- lecture on 'like, love, eat, and drink' I will only form positive example sentences. Double check understanding of 'a lot of' like 'I eat a lot of rice.' 2:A 3:D 4:C
Play (3.19) - students will listen and practice. Double check their handing of vowels within the core vocab.
Play recording (3.19) and students will listen to different foods and drinks. They will checkmark the foods they hear. Once complete they will check their answers as pairs then as a class. I will play the recording once more. Students will complete activity 5B. I will play once more if necessary. Then we will check answers as a class.
Students will beging to complete sentences using the new vocabulary and verbs. While they are working I will check their answers and grant help to students who need it. I will insist that there be no talking at that this is an individual assignment. If you have any questions please ask me.
I will teach the phrase 'me too' There will be a model sentence on the board that shows this. "I love chocolate and coffee!" "Me too!" Students will break into groups and compare students. If their partner's sentences are also true for them they will say 'me too!' At the end I will tell the class about food and drinks they love, like.
Students will review all material covered in this lesson and also apply it to material learned earlier - such as money and prices.
