Description

In this lesson, I will help my students to increase their vocabulary by using pictures to elicit information about people. We will use various descriptive words to help students to describe different people's appearances and features.

Main Aims

  • To provide of athletic, Average hight, stubborn, timid, neat, adventurous, in the context of descriping a new colleague that you have just met.
  • to provide practice, review and clarification of descriptive words and adjectives.

Subsidiary Aims

  • to improve students' fluency and accuracy while speaking in a controlled practice and real life situations.
  • Islamic aim: teach students to be kind to other people and not to say harch words or bully eachother.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

through a random wheel, students try to describe the appearance of the character that is selected. they will focus on describing the characters' hair and physical appearnce.

test #1 (5-7 minutes) to now the student's prior knowledge. (5-7 minutes) • to decide what information they already know and what is new and should be explained.

1- display a picture that has different people 2- ask students to think and describe people's build and appearance. 3- ask for volunteers to share their ideas

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

1-highlight the most important words TL 2- explain the meaning 3- drill to make sure that they can pronounce them correctly 4- go to the activity (drag and drop) to apply what we have learned

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare it with the first test

a guessing game 1- ask students to say three sentences describing one of their colleagues in the class using the new vocabulary. 2- assess their performance while they are having fun. 3- feedback

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

ask students to practice the guessing game with any member of their family or friends.
