Description

In this lesson plan students learn all the family members(Grandfather, grandmother, father, mother, sister, brother...etc.)

Materials

Abc blank papers and pens

Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, students will have had clarification on the meaning, form and pronunciation of the family members vocabulary (grandfather, grandmother, father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, uncle, aunt, cousin niece and nephew) and they will have had practiced this in a controlled and freer exercises.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Improving the students' fluency by helping students to use these vocabulary in their conversations when describing their family confidently.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-Teacher greets students and asks( how are you doing?). -Teacher shows the students an authentic photo for family members, T asks them what can you see in the picture to elicit the word family. Then T asks Ss a follow up question (do you like family gathering ? why?) .

Exposure (7-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

-T plays Ss a video contains a story about family members from which they get the meaning of family members vocabulary. -T focuses on the pronunciation of the mentioned words in the video (P). - T asks Ss to repeat the words after her. (drilling)

Clarification (13-13 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

*Presentation Stage(clarification) : -T shows Ss a picture of all members (family Tree) and asks Ss who is this? clarifying (meaning) - T asks is this word a noun or a verb? to elicit the (form). - T nominates Ss to pronounce certain words from the family members to practice(pronunciation). * Activity sheet : -Ss work in pairs to find the words and copy them below the right picture.

Controlled Practice (10-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

*Practice Stage: *Activity1: Ss work in pairs to read a story and write the name of each family member in the boxes related to each member. *Activity 2: T asks Ss to change their partners to have another activity, fill in the blanks, practicing writing the vocabulary (family members).

Free Practice (10-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

*Production Stage: -Activity1: T asks Ss to write 5 lines about their family members(how many of each member do they have? who is their closest one? how often do they meet? -Activity 2: Ss discuss what they wrote in pairs. - Ss mingle around to find colleagues that share the same information, While T is monitoring during these activities .
