Description

In this lesson the students learn new vocabulary that they can use when talking about different places that exist in a city or near their houses. the lesson starts by setting a context to get the students engaged. then students will do a first test when they are required to match words with pictures. After that comes the part where the teacher familiarizes the students with the target language and prepares them for the second test. Finally, students will do a a semi-controlled practice where they can use the TL more comfortably.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students and generate ideas

As a lead in I will show students three pictures one of the country, one of the village, and one of the city, get them to compare the pictures together. "look, what's this? in two minutes discuss with you partner the differences. Now tell me what's number one, what's number two?, what's number three? So, do you like living in the city? why or why not. T makes an open class discussion and makes sure to involves all the students.

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language, to spot learners’ problems and errors , and to identify their needs.

T gives instructT divides student into two groups.ions clearly. Now I am going to give you sets of words about different places that we can see in the city you will match them with right pictures. T demonstrates once or twice with students. "Now you have to finish the rest, you have ten minutes T ICQs to check understanding of the instructions. “How much time do you have?” (Ten Minutes) After 5 minutes T asks few members to change the group and to do some peer correction T gives the answer key. Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage, To present the TL. -To address students’ need suitably. -To familiarize Ss with the TL.

T presents and analyses the target language using the MPF aspect. T uses CCQs to concept check the meaning of the words and phrases

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

To make sure that students have understood what each word means, T will prepare a set of lexical words that can be categorized by the place where it belongs. Again the T will divide the students into two groups. "Now, in 10 Minutes I want you to put the words that relate to the places we have seen" T shows an example on the projector. "So, how much time do you have? (10 minutes) T plays background music while students are doing the task. T changes group members and allows peer corrections after four to five minutes T provides the answer key Quick feedback

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language through a speaking activity

T puts the students in pairs. "Now, you have 30 seconds, close your eyes and think of all the places that surround your house, the place where you live" T plays a background music. " And now, you are going to talk as many people as you can and mention some places that you can see and that are near your house, and let your partner guess where do you live" T demos "Where I live there is a sport center called Dallas fitness, where I live the president's house in very close, where I live there a metro station and there is the metro number 5" "can you guess where do I live" 'Mnihla" T uses ISQs just to make sure students understood the instructions "So are you going to tell you partner where you live or let them guess?" (they guess) "are you going to tell them about the places that are near your house? (YES) "If you partner cannot guess the place or cannot guess it, are you going to find another partner?
