Procedure (32-44 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
The teacher enters the class and talks about her pet.
Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation
The students will see some pictures of some animals and try to say what they can do.
Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language
The teacher gives some sample sentences to students to help them give examples.
Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language
The teacher writes sentences on the board and highlights the verbs and the modal verbs in the sentences.
Controlled Practice (5-7 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice
