Students will be asked to make predictions in pairs: who is the man in the picture? What is he doing? What is he going to do? FB on the predictions with the WC.
Students should listen to the text once and understand if the predictions were correct or not. FB with the class.
The T deliver a handout to ss with 8 sentences containing some information. The T asks ss to read the statements first before playing the recording again. Ss are supposed to listen out for the information in the recording and tick the ones that are mentioned, Ss can discuss the answer with their peers after the second listening. Answer keys will be written on the board.
In pairs, students try to answer two questions: why the man in this story hides his identity? What does he do when he is not dressed as a superhero? Quick FB with the class before proceeding to play the recording.
The T tells ss they're going to listen to an update on the news story about the character. Students will try to understand whether their prediction on Monkey Man's identity were true or false. FB with the class.
The T hands out an exercise. The exercise contains 5 sentences with some words in italics. The T asks ss to read the sentences before playing the recording, When the T plays the recording again, ss are supposed to listen out for these sentences and replace the words in italics with the words that they hear. The T plays the recording twice. Correction in pairs, first, and on the WB.
In groups, students will discuss the following questions: Do you think that what tMatt Lees and his friends did was funny or irresponsible? Do you know of any other untrue stories that have been printed in the newspapers? FB with the WC and error correction.
