In this lesson, students are going to read facts about reading and practice reading for gist and specific information.

Main Aims

  • To provide students practice with reading for gist and specific information in the context of Work and Study.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To intruduce some new vocabulary in the context of the lesson

Procedure

Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set the lesson context and engage students with the context of work and study.

-I will show students a blank keyboard and ask them to fill it. -First they work inidividually in then compare their answers in pairs.

Pre-Reading (7 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I will give sts some questions about their daily lives context in the context of lesson. Sts will work in pairs.

While-Reading (10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging reading for gist activity.

I will give sts the text and ask them to tick if they know the fact, cross if they don't know and put an exclamation mark if it is interesting.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, fill in a chart activity.

I will divide the class into two groups and give each a set of questons and five pieces of information about typing. - I will ask each group to read their pieces of information and then ask the questons the other group -I will also ask each group to answer the other groups questions. - Each group is going to choose a secretary to write fill the chart with answers.

Post-Reading (13 minutes) • To provide students an opportunity to discuss about types of work (inside or outside)

I will ask sts to line up and discuss about the topic with everyone in the class.
