Procedure

Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. My favourite place to eat is a Thai restaurant in London 2. They are only opened on weekends from 12pm-4pm Instructions: 1. Ask sts: Where is your favourite place to eat, what food do they serve and when do they open and close? 2. Discuss in pairs 3. 1 minute 4. Feedback from 2 students Instructions: 1. Show a photo of 3 people 2. Today, we will help Theresa, Robbie and Sarah choose a place to eat

PTV (10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

While-Reading/Listening #1 (12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging scanning task

Instructions for 1a/b. 1. Before we help Theresa, Robbie and Sarah decide where they want to go, we have to get to know the places first. 2. Read the adverts A, B and C. and fill the table 3. Then read the advert again and answer the questions. 3. Hand out work sheet 4. DEMO 1a. 'what is the opening time for The Goodwood Hotel?' and get feedback. 5. DEMO 1b. 'whats the phone number of the hotel?' and get feedback 6. Work in pairs 7. 5 minutes ICQ: are we reading quickly or slowly? Display answers on the board Instructions for 2. 1. Read where Robbie, Theresa and Sarah want to go 2. Match the advert to where they want to go 3. Write the letter in the box DEMO 4. Instructions: 1. Show photo of Theresa, Robbie and Sarah 2. They live in Bristol, a city in England 3. They want to make a plan for the weekend 4. Match restaurant A.B.C to each person DEMO: Theresa 5. Individually 6. 7 minutes ICQ: are we reading very quickly or slowly?

Productive Skills task - speaking (10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to speak in the form of the texts they have read

Instructions: 1. In pairs 2. Invite your partner to go out with you 3. Write what your partner says and decide if you want to go 4. Discuss: Where you want to go. Why you want to go there (food, music). The time and place you want to meet. 5. 7 minutes ICQ: are we only speaking? are we deciding if we would like to go out with them? O/C content feedback Ask sts where their partner invited them to and if they want to go
