Procedure (45-55 minutes)
- I start discussing Ss : What do you do in your free time? then I will show Ss some pictures to elicit the meaning of the words activity like (go to concerts, to eat out, visit friends. etc). I will check their pronunciation of some words like (concerts /visit ). I will ask them is it a noun or a verb and why we pronounce (c) in concert /K/ and /c/. I ask them to repeat these words together after me. I will choose one or two activities as an example: My favorite things are going to concerts and having coffee with friends. I will show them the question : (what do you do in your free time?) asking them to ask each other in pairs. I will play music during this activity. i will monitor them during this activity.
I will FB the previous activity asking them : how many people like (shopping/ going out/phoning friends/doing sports/watching TV)? I will discuss their answers. After that, I will give them page26 sheet from sb and ask them to look at the picture of Freddie and Jeanette: I will ask them to guess from the picture : where are they? do you think they know each other? do you think they are married or they are just friends? Are they good friends? are they working together? then I ask them to read in pairs the ex 3a pg 24 before playing the listening activity. I give them instructions during listening to Freddie and Jeanette's conversation write with your friend are these sentences true(T) or false (F)?
I play the listening .they try to answer in pairs during the listening. After that I will ask some of the students to write their answers on the board to check their answers.
Before I ask them to read the questions,I will identify the meaning of a word ( tick ) on the board. I will play the listening cd again. They will tick the things that Jeanette does in her free time.
First, they check their answers in groups. then, I ask some of them to tick on board to check their answers. we shift to another activity. I ask all students to stand up and organize them four or more inside back to back and each one face to one outside and now give them instruction I show a question on the data show and each one asks the one who faces on the circle and I stop the music each one turns to another person and ask him/her a question from data show during the music play if I stop turn to another person. Does Jeanette go out after work with Freddie ? Does Jeanette watch TV after work? Does Freddie go to the cinema with Jeanette ? will Jeanette marry Freddie? Does Jeanette visit her parents on Sunday evening? Is Jeanette married? Does Freddie want to go out with Jeanette? Finally, I thank them and ask them to sit down.
