Procedure (24-39 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
Students look at pictures related to the topic, and discuss/brainstorm what they know
Pre-Reading (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible
Students discuss questions related to the topic
Pre-teach vocabulary (5-7 minutes) • Aim: students know the vocab they will need to complete the reading activities
Teach students words they need
While-Reading 1 (5-7 minutes) • students understand the main ideas(s) in the text
Match a topic to each paragraph Give students a time limit
While-Reading 2 (5-9 minutes) • students understand the text in detail
-Short answer questions -True/false questions
Post-Reading (4-8 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
Students discuss their reactions to the jobs in the text (e.g. what they liked, whether they agreed, do they like to have the same job )
