Main Aims

  • by the end of the lesson students will have practised the meaning of the lexis ( cosmopolitan , docks , harbor , scenery, carnival , spectacular ) in a context of speaking about a place they know

Subsidiary Aims

  • by the end of the lesson students will have practised speaking for fluency in the context of speaking about a place they know

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- display el Fayoum's picture and ask them if they know the name of this city? 2- what are the places you can visit in Fayoum city?

Test #1 (diagnostic) (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

1-play the matching game 2- divide them into break out room 3 " while they are in the break out rooms I'll write the problematic words " 3- check answers

Teach -feedback - language clarification (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

1- after noticing the problematic ones 2- I'll go through MPF for each problematic word 3- drill the words 4- ccq them

Test #2 controlled practice (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

1- tell them the instructions ( horizontal and vertical ) 2- give them an example & send them the link 3- tell them to do it individually 4- get them the answers

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

1- tell them to speak about a place they know 2- give them the useful language 3- model 4- give them time to think 5- get them to speak to each other in the break out rooms 6- ask some of them randomly to tell me the best place he \she heard about
