To present and practice the differences between countable and uncountable nouns in the context of Breakfast
Subsidiary Aims

To provide practice with vocabulary (MFP) Breakfast and food vocabulary.

To allow Ss to practice their speaking skills during the group and pair discussions.
Procedure (37-43 minutes)
-T shows Ss a breakfast photo. -T elicit Ss to name some food -T shows a second photo with a different breakfast. -T asks Ss What do you have for breakfast? What do you eat for breakfast?
-T gives instructions for the first TW activity -Ss have to listen to the conversation CD1-80 and fill in the table. -T asks ICQ questions -T plays the conversation -T creates a break-out room -Ss check answers in pairs (1 minute) -After 1 minute, T and Ss check answers. -T asks a CCQ ´´are these nouns?´´ -T asks Ss ´´What is a noun?´´ -T waits for Ss. If Ss do not answer T gives the definition -T asks Ss to mention some examples -T gives instructions for the second TW activity -T asks ICQ questions -Ss have to select the singular and plural words -Ss work in pairs (2 minutes) -T creates a break-out room -Ss check answers in pairs (2 minute) -After 2 minutes, T and Ss check answers.
-T shows Ss slide number 1- Guided discovery Task -T elicit Ss to discover the meaning asking CCQ What is a countable noun? Can you give me an example? Are countable nouns singular or plural? What is an uncountable noun? Can you give me an example? Are countable nouns singular or plural? -T asks Ss to work in pairs. Ss have to choose which nouns are countable and uncountable. T gives 1 minute -T creates a break-out room -After 1 minute, T and Ss check answers. -Ss might have trouble with 2 nouns (Fish and chicken) T explains it. -T shows Ss a list with uncountable nouns. -T elicits Ss to discover How to quantify uncountable nouns. -T asks CCQ. Are these nouns U or C? Can we count U? can we say 3 milks? Do you have any idea of how to count uncountable nouns? Can we count glasses? A glass of water, 5 glasses of water. -T asks Ss to finish the activity together -T and S check the answers. -T gives 2 minutes do next activity in pairs. -T creates a break-out room -After 2 minute, T and Ss check answers. -T plays an audio with the following sounds /ʃ/ /ʧ/ /d3/ CD1 -81 -T asks Ss to repeat the sounds -Ss have to fill in the chart with the correct words -T asks Ss to repeat the words -T explains the stress words in the following sentences. I like I don´t like I do not like I detest
-T shares the controlled practice number 1 and 2 -T gives the instructions (2 minute) -Ss work individually -Ss have to choose the correct answer a, an or - -T asks Ss to check answers (2 minute) -T creates a break-out room -After the 2 minutes, T and Ss check exercises 1 and 2. -T nominates 1Ss to answer. (If it’s not correct, T nominates another Ss to get the right answer) -T repeats the correct answer.
