To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of weekend to be able to use expressions with the correct intonation to express interest in speaking
Subsidiary Aims

To provide specific information about using different kinds of intonation in different expressions
Procedure (36-45 minutes)
Ss focus on the picture and try to predict where the people are. 1- a great weekend? 2- a quiet weekend? 3- a busy weekend? 4- a terrible weekend? Ss are in 4 groups read about the people.Groups A,B,C,D. Then, join two groups together. Ss will talk to each other about what they read using the following questions: How was the weekend? What did he/she do on the weekend? .
Ss work in the previous 4 groups on ex 2 and match the cut-ups. When the Ss finish the matching exercise, they write down the Past simple of the given verbs on the paper.
I'll give Ss sometime to read ex 5. Then, they will match individually and check their answers in pairs. Ss in 2 groups will fill the table. Ss listen to exercise 6 and drill chorally and individually focusing on the intonation. Ss will notice also the stress.
Ss are in pairs. A and B. As Ss have the questions on page 105. Bs Ss have the answers. Bs Ss have the questions on page 113. As Ss have the answers. I'll regroup the Ss to speak freely about their last weekend using the previous expressions with the correct intonation.
I'll highlight any errors in the speaking activity.
