Materials
Main Aims

To provide clarification and review of causative verbs have and get in the context of Film and TV
Subsidiary Aims
-
To make Ss come up with sentences using causatives easily.
Procedure (38-49 minutes)
T shares a Padlet link with Ss in which they are going to write their answers for the question "What things you can't do alone and you need somebody else to do it and what things you can do yourself?". After Ss shared their answers, T is going to look at them briefly together.
T tells Ss to look at the specific sentences from the text in which they can see causative verbs, and by looking at the context T tries to elicit what they might mean and discuss these sentences together.
T asks Ss to match the sentences with the possible meanings in the first exercise on p. 84. Then, T asks some concept check questions by writing following sentences on the board: "The chef prepared the meal in front of the camera. The chef had the meal prepared earlier. The winner of the competition wrote a speech to give when she accepted the prize. The winner of the competition had her speech written."
Ss goes to the Grammar Focus, p. 146. T highlights the sentence construction rules, usage, and clarifies important points stated by looking at the example sentences.
T asks students to do activities on page 147. Ss do the first activity individually, after they have finished T shows the correct answers. Ss do the second activity in pairs and they will be asked to what sentences they have come up with.
T shows Ss an image in which they see a person who has undergone an extreme makeover. After providing them necessary, beauty related phrases, in pairs they are asked to come up with causative sentences referring to what kind of changes they have undergone.
