In this lesson are going to learn common expression used for buying. They will lesson to some people buying something to figure out the TL for shopping.

Main Aims

  • provide students introduction and practice of the functional langugage used for shopping.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide students practice listening for gist and to present TL in the conversation in the context of shoping.

Procedure

Warmer (4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students in the context of shopping

I will show students some pictures and ask them to discuss in pairs. Studemts will ask each other what are these pictures about? and why do people go there?

Exposure (5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a listening conversations.

I will give them some qustions about the listening and tell them they are going to to 3 conversations to answer to these three questions. Then they compare their answers in pairs. I will give feedback as a whole class.

Highlighting (10 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language in listening.

I will elicite the target language from students by asking the following questions: I will ask students what did the man in the shop said? When he was asking about the price what did he say? I will start the TL analysis,meaning form and pronunciation.

Controlled Practice (10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice in the context of shopping

I will ask students to match questions with answers. Then compare their answers in groups of three students.

Free Practice (10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language in the context of shopping.

In this activity students will practice TL in the rolle playing. I will give some students items that they are going to from a shop and some others assigne them the rolle of the shop keeper. In this way they will be forced to use the TL.
