Procedure (33-47 minutes)
The teacher refers to the reading text they read in the previous lesson and asks them to work in pairs and discuss which one of these people has the most difficult life and why. After that they share their ideas with whole class.
The teacher tells sts to read Peter Jackson's part (the fifth paragraph) in the reading text on p. 91 and answer the following questions: 1. What happened after he saw the fim King Kong? 2. Why did he left school at the of 16? When the sts find the answer individually, they compare their answers with their pairs and after that the T receives whole class feedback.
Students are asked to go through the questions in 4a and try to choose the correct answers and then check from the article (in pairs). After that the T shows the AK.
The teacher asks some CCQ's (3A) to clarify the form of the target structure. 1. How many verbs do you see in these sentences? 2. What verb form follows the highlighted verbs? They analyse positive / negative and question forms by eliciting them from the sts.
The students are then directed to page 158 to go through exercises A and C. The students then discuss their answers in pairs. Board race (ss run to the board to write the answers) can be done to make it fun. Meanwhile, T ask some CCQ's (in the form of a yes/no question) to consolidate the meaning and the form.
students in pairs are given a friendship quiz with no questions and they are asked to prepare their own quiz about their pairs by writing predictions.
