Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a Experiences in the context of Travel

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about Travel experience

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students with the topic.

To begin the class the teacher will use a series of pictures to peek the students interest, by doing this the students will be able to engage with the topic on a personal level with the question that will be asked. The question will be: Do you like to travel?

Gist (2-4 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming task through a model article

To have the students begin to interact with what will be expected of them, for the gist they will be presented with an article/ blog to read and analyse a bit the title and headings,what the heading and subheading are about. This will be an example of what the productive task will be.

Useful Language / Structure (5-8 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language and structure for upcoming productive tasks

To clarify ad go over key components in this class the teacher will introduce some useful language, and the structure of a travel blog along with the title, paragraphs, sub titles, and main aim of the students productive task.

Brainstorming/ planning (3 minutes) • To provide time for students to gather their ideas and plan for the upcoming task.

For this quick pause in the class the teacher will give students sufficient time to gather their ideas, start planning their blogs, and where they will be writing about, a preferred vacation destination they would recommend.

Productive Task(s) (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

For this main productive stage of the lesson, the teacher will introduce the activity, this will be a writing task, more specifically a travel blog, their own travel blog. This will include their preferred destination, food preferences, currency, and an experience of said place.

Publishing (7-10 minutes) • To provide students with free feedback from their peers.

For this stage of the lesson the teacher will separate students into breakout rooms in order for them to see if they were able to complete the task given and other certain areas that the students will be asked to check with their peers, meaning if the blog is easy to understand, if there is correct punctuation, also, if the useful language was used and if they would want to visit said places.

Feedback on Content and Error Correction (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

For this final stage of the lesson the teacher will ask the students about some of the blogs they heard and if they met the criteria and if they would want to visit said places. Once this is done the teacher will proceed to the error correction of 5 phrases and whether they are correct or incorrect.
