Main Aims

The main aim of this lesson is a general English lesson with regards to reading, speaking, vocabulary, grammar, and listening.
Subsidiary Aims

The subsidiary aims of this lesson are reading and grammar.
Procedure (85-150 minutes)
Introduce yourself. Set the rules of your class: No eating. No mobile phones. Be nice. Talk a lot. Have fun. GTKY activity: Find Someone Who.... Owns a cat. Has traveled outside of Egypt. Loves food. Likes winter. Likes summer. Speaks more than two languages. Section 1: Ss will look at maps and explain to one another what type of journey they would like to go on.
Section 1B: Ss will read The Silk Road alone and answer the following questions. Check instructions: Are we listening? Section 1C: Read Travelblog and do a matching exercise in pairs. Check instructions: Are we writing? Section 1E: Students talk about which trip was better and why in pairs.
Section 2: 2A: Students will match in pairs. Check answers with one another. 2B: Students will work in two groups to discuss what types of transport people use on holiday.
Section 4: 4A: Answer the question in two big groups. ICQ: Are we answering yes or no? Section 5: 5A: Listen alone and work in pairs to complete sentences. ICQ: Are we writing short answers? 5B: Complete the rule on the board: Do/does + subject + infinitive 5C: Listen to the audio and elicit the pronunciation from the students. Section 6: 6B: Ask the whole class the question.
Unit 7B: Section 1: 1A: Ask the students the question about metros. 1B: Students read Metros around the world alone and match together in pairs. Check answers as a class. 1C: Students discuss in pairs their opinions on the metro photos. 1E: Students read alone and answer the questions in two groups. Check answers as a class.
Section 2: 2A/B Students will listen to the audio and write down the word opposite of the word already written. 2C: Which are negative? Which are positive? 2D: Write the words on the board, make them listen, and figure out the stress point.
3A: Write the question on the board and have them discuss in pairs. 4A: Students do alone. 4B: Students write down how they feel about their transport choices and tell each other in pairs.
