Description

In this lesson, students will discuss events that will happen in the future, a time capsule and their own future.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of future.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of future vocabulary in the context of future events.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. In pairs, think of three events that will happen in the future. 2. Share your ideas with the class.

Exposure (10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

1. Read the sentences/predictions in the box. 2. Put a mark next to the ones you think will happen. 3. Explain why you think it will happen.

Useful Language (5 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

1. Make a list of the new vocabulary. 2. Elicit the meaning of the new words.

Productive Task(s) (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1. Read the sentences in the box. 2. Individually, make a list of things you think we should put in the time capsule. 3. Why do you think we should include them in the capsule. 4. Share your ideas with the class.

Feedback and Error Correction (5-8 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language
