To provide gist listening practice using a text about Things wanted in the context of old inventions
Procedure (37-53 minutes)
I will ask Ss ( When you were 15 what invention would you like to have ? Why ) I will give them 1 minute to think then elicit their answers and write them on the board . I show them some old inventions and ask them which one would you like to have if you were at that time . Ss work in pairs then I discuss them .
T will ask Ss to find answer for the questions ( What did Susan want when she was young? What did Katy want when she was young ?) Ss listen for one time then T elicits the answers .
T gives Ss some incomplete sentences about Susan and Katy . T tells them to listen and write what is missing about each woman . T asks Ss to check in pairs after listening . T provides them with the feedback.
T hangs four sheets on walls of the class . T eill divide Ss into 4 groups and asks them to choose one of them to go to the sheet and read a sentence come back to write it in a blank sheet.,one by one .The winner who finishes first . T asks gives students the original text to check and ask then to underline "to + verb "in each sentence , T writes the underlined words on the board " form " then ask Ss to repeat them " pronuncition ".
T tells Ss that they are going to answer exercise 1 individually . T checks: Are you going to work in pairs or alone? Alone . Ss check in pairs . T provides feedback on the WB.
T divides Ss into four groups . T provides Ss with sheets about Grammar "infinitive of purpose ". Each group works together and answer ex 2 . T gives feedback by eliciting the correct answer .
T Gives them the words asks them to write about each word why they like to have it . Ss work individually ,then chek in pairs ,and t asks each pair to swap their papers . T discusses each s about his parrtner's answer.
