Procedure (34-45 minutes)
Teacher starts the lesson matching 9 sentences from the article read in the previous lesson to the characters Rob, William and Sally. Teacher puts the sentence cards on the walls. Students stand up in pairs or individually ( it depends on the number of the students) Then they stick them under the correct character drawn on the WB.
T shows the sentences on the board and encourages them to use she or he to make the sentences. e.g. I have done lots of jobs over the years. Rob has done lots of jobs over the years. This activity is repeated for each sentence. T asks questions later clarifies the difference between the tenses used. Later students in pairs, discuss whether they are "finished or "up to now" actions. Teacher monitors them. They give the answers.
In this section, student match the time expressions in the activiy 2 on page 42 in the book (Inside Out Book) to the correct title "Finished" or "Up to now" in pairs. Teacher checks by asking qestions. She writes a few on WB. Then she gathers them in groups of three or four to make sentences using those expressions. After this activity, each student gives an example about his / her friend in the group. Then they do the exercise on page 41 in the book ( Inside Out) individually. Teacher monitors them.
Teacher writes on the board Group A Group B. T encourages them to tell the verbs which remain same while using Present Perfect and Past Simple and the verbs which change. They discuss in pairs. Teacher writes them on the board do some repetitions to work on pronunciation.
T draws a happy face and a sad face on the board and asks which is suitable for worst and best. She shows a model on the board? What's the worst bed you've ever slept in? It was the bed in the dormitory. What's the best car you've ever gone in? It was a ferrari. Then students ask the questions each other in pairs. Then, some of them give tell their friends' answers.
Teacher draws TURKEY on the board and ask some questions using have you ever...?like e-g.Have you ever seen Fairy Chimneys in Nevşehir? Have you ever eaten Tantuni? Have you ever visited Topkapı Palace? They do the handout prepared by the teacher. They ask the question to a different person. So it's a whole class activity. She does a demonstartion before that. Finally, She checks the answers to fill in the blanks in the activity 1 on page 43 in the book Inside Out.
