To provide clarification and practice of multi-word verbs in the context of clothes, computers, love and relationships.

To provide product writing practice of a text using multi-word verbs.
Procedure (41-54 minutes)
Show Ss the g-slides and tell them to read the text with the multi-word verbs. Have the Ss guess what the topic is about.(clothes, computers, love and friendship).
Tell Ss to read the three paragraphs and to match the topics with each paragraph. Once the Ss will check as a whole class. Answers: 1. Love Friendship 2. computes 3. clothes Then Ss will go G-slides and they will match the multi-verb with the correct definition in the word webs. Clarify that they need to use the infinitive form of the verbs. Answers: (in the correct order) on: click on, try on, get on off: go off, take off, log off up: chat up, dress up, scroll up, down: settle down, shut down, dress down
Show the Ss the G-slides. Tell them to read the definitions of the multi-word verbs on their own. Once they have read ask students: 1. which of the verbs needs an object? 2. which verb does not need an object? 3. which Verb can be followed by another preposition? After that students should read some sentences and highlight the correct sentences based on the definitions that were given. Some of them can have two correct answers. Answers: 1. A &b 2. A 3.a &b
Show the Ss the G-forms and tell students to read the sentences and to complete them by filling in the blank, using " on, off, up or down". Confirm answers in OFCB. Answers: 1. up 2. down 3. on 4. on 5. off 6. up 7. off 8. down
Tell the Ss they will choose three or four multi-word verbs from the ones learned in the lesson. Then they will write a short text using the verbs. Ss will have 5 minutes to write their text. When they have finished, Ss compare sentences in pairs. Then ask for volunteers to read out loud their sentences.
