Description

In this lesson ss will practice vocabulary words of town and country through Test Teach Test. They will start by identifying and comparing two pictures one of a village and the other of a town. Then they will have the first test task to test their knowledge. Next , they will have a controlled practice then a freer discussion of where the students of different place they can go to meet their friends or see tourist sights .

Main Aims

To provide practice of vocabulary words for town and village in the context of a picture of both.

Subsidiary Aims

To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of about different places of town and village.

Procedure (37-50 minutes)

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Provide a picture on projector Ask students: Which is the town? Which is the village? How do you Know it is a town or a village? What places can we find in town and cannot find in a village?

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

*Show on Projector the task * Explain the task : Look at the two pictures find the words in the box. * Demonstrate: Read the first and second question and try to elicit the answer from the ss * ss will then check in pairs *Provide answer key on the projector

Teach (5-10 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

-Show a pic of a cathedral in Egypt. What is this building? Where is it ? -Show a pic of a cathedral in England?(a cathedral) What is this building? Do u think it is the same as or different from the last one? Is it old or new? _ show a church pic Is it bigger or smaller than a cathedral?(a church) _Show a pic a mountain and a hill. What can u see in the pic? Which is higher a hill or a mountain Can we build houses on hills ?(a mountain) -Show a pic of a cottage What is this ? Primitive or modern?We can see it in a town or a village?(a cottage) Show a pavement ( a pavement) Show an Office block What is this building? Do we live or work in it?(an office block)

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

-Give instructions -Demonstrate the first two -give the handout(work in pairs) -give them time to think of answers. -give answer key -Demonstrate in open pairs -let ss ask me the first question and I answer -let s ask in open pairs -Then they can work together

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

-Demonstrate questions and answers with ss in open pairs -Show intonation - Let ss stand up and mingle(to ask at least 3 different persons) -take notes of their mistakes during thier to clarify on the board.
