Procedure (31-45 minutes)
Set the context for the topic by showing students images from a G-Slide. Tell them to guess what the pictures represent and after hearing their responses ask them if they have ever heard of "Greener lifestyles" and what are their thoughts about them.
This will be done by showing G-Slides Meaning. Demonstrate activity using Slide. Ss should match the words with their corresponding synonyms, to elicit information of the words. Ss will later match the words to their correct sentences and give an example of their own. Answer: Nightmarish - Horrific. Instead - As another option. Wherever - In any place. Despite - Regardless of. Pronunciation. Repeat the words and ask them how many syllables do each of the words has. Ask them where is the intonation for the words. Ask them to read the sentences to hear their pronunciation. Answer: Nightmarish Ooo Instead oO Wherever oOo Despite oO Form. Ss will need to drag the words to their correct sentences. They will need to read them out loud and then will identify if they are adjectives, adverbs, prepositions. Answer: Nightmarish (adjective) Instead (adverb) Wherever (adverb) Despite (preposition)
Show G-slide. Ask Ss to identify positive and negative actions that can lead (or not) to a greener lifestyle. They will need to separate the pictures shown in the slide. Tell Ss they will read a text, give them a bit of context and let them predict what the text will be about. After that, tell them they will read it quickly to grasp the general ideas of the text (main ideas will be underlined in boxes). Ask them "What changes do you think he made?"
Show Ss G-Form (Living a greener lifestyle for a year). Tell Ss they should read the text more carefully and before going over the text go over the questions so they have a better idea of what they will be looking for. Ss should answer the form, answers will be confirmed by looking at responses.
Show Ss a slide that says "Have you considered living a green lifestyle?" Would you like to try it? "Should people take care of the planet? "How can they do so? Give them some time to think about their answers so they can share their thoughts. After that provide Ss with another slide that says "Do you have an idea for a solution to climate change?" "What do you think people should do to reduce contamination?" Give Ss a short example so they can do theirs. Give them time to think about their answers so they can share them with you.
