Main Aims

To introduce and provide practice of speaking for fluency for talking about ambitions and achievements in the context of greatest achievements.
Subsidiary Aims

To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of ambitions and achievements.
Procedure (45-55 minutes)
- Show photos of famous people and ask, "Who is this?" "Why are they famous?" Maybe put into small groups, maybe not... Maybe put into small groups and then have them come back into main group to share. Meh I don't know
- Listen to audio - Have students think about ideas to prepare for speech
- Define: Dream, ambition, achievement? - USEFUL LANGUAGE: One/another thing I'd like to do one day is... I've always wanted to... It's always been my dream to.... One thing I'd (also) love to do is... I'd also like to... (Achievements:) One thing I've done that I'm very proud of is.... My greatest achievement was when I... ^ maybe listen to audio and listen to these expressions, and then pick the ones they used and get the students to help fill in the blanks. "One thing I've done that I'm very _____ of is...." Go over MFAP: M: Maybe go over dream, ambition, and achievement. What is the difference? F: Give them the actual examples of speaking... P: (Like John) Choose three to go over, ask them where the stress is (use a slide to show), have them repeat after you with their mics ON Give them a handout with a list of ALL the phrases to use during their speaking time, but only go over P with like 3 of them.
Ask the students: - What are two of your greatest achievements? What are two ambitions/dreams that you have? Share with your partner and then switch around to tell someone else. (Also maybe I should include questions they can ask the other: "What is your greatest achievement?"
