Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Greeting + daily routine Review body parts (especially head, stomach, nose, tooth) with Simon Says game. Introduce objectives for this unit and for today's lesson.

Presentation (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Vocab PPT with pictures Associate with movements. Ex. I have a toothache. Student models holding their jaw with a pained expression. Teacher models action and class follows suit. I Have a Headache Song (YouTube): Ask ss to listen for vocabulary words while they listen. Ss have 1 min to compare with a partner before the teacher asks: What's wrong? He has a headache. He has a cold.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Find Your Match Activity Half of the class is given flashcards with key expressions written on them (e.g. I have a stomachache.), and the other half is given flashcards with pictures matching those key expressions. Students have 1 minute to find their matches. Each group presents their cards to the rest of the class as follows: Class in unison: What's wrong? Group A in unison: I have a stomachache. (Shows picture on flashcard or models the corresponding action.) Teacher: Very good! Let's ask the next group. Collect and randomly redistribute flashcards. Repeat activity as time allows.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Charades Race Activity Students are divided into 6 groups of 5 students each.

Closing

Praise students for their hard work. Next class we will continue learning how to talk about feeling sick or in pain. We will also learn how to tell someone how to feel better. Ask: What can you do to feel better when you're sick? For example, when you have a cold, you should eat hot soup. What else should you do? Give ss 1 min to brainstorm in groups. Each group shares 1 idea for an Exit Ticket.
