Description

In this lesson, Students will learn present continuous tense. This lesson designed according to the PPP format. First, students are going to engage with a brief lead-in and eliciting by asking some questions what people are doing in the photo and continue the lesson with some drills and semi-controlled practice and ask some questions about what their family members are doing now in the freer practice.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

A handout which includes pictures will be given to students. I'm going to ask them some questions like: where are the people? What actions do you see ? Talk, listen, run....and elicit sentence as much as possible.

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

At this stage I'm going to mime some actions for example walk and ask them am I walking or running and get students involved answering questions By asking some questions, I will make student understand the difference between simple present and present continuous.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

At the clarification part, I will write a sentence on the board and explain the forms of the grammar (negative.positive) and ask them to repeat the sentences chorally, and I will change the pronouns, so they have to say the right form. He is swimming, I = I am swimming

Semi-Controlled Practice (4-8 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

At this stage I will put students in a pair, and they have to talk about their family members like what are they doing right now ?

Free Practice (8-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

After talking about their family now, I will ask each pair what her/his partner's family members are doing now.
