Show Slide 2- a newspaper article. Ss look through the article and try to identify the general features of a newspaper article. Draw their attention to the newspaper features cards . Ask them to label the features according to the cards given. Monitor and help where needed. FB-W/C

Show Slide 3.- elicit the topic of the news. Ss read through slide and check they are clear about the meaning- deal with any questions. Group the Ss according to the types of news. Give the Ss pictures related to the topics on the slide. Ss choose the picture and work in groups to think of a suitable headline for the news on it. Elicit the answers. Ss brainstorm what their news is going to be about.They do not share their ideas with other groups. FB- w/c.

Tell Ss that they will write a newspaper article about the topic they have just discussed and think about the page layout. Remind them to use the narrative tenses and the newspaper features.
