Description

In this lesson students will have practiced' there is / there are' in the context of describing homes and furniture. They will have revised vocabulary for homes ,names of rooms and furniture, through a listening task. Then, they will have a controlled task with 'there is/there are' in negative and questions forms. At last they will have a controlled practice through a speaking activity.

Main Aims

  • To provide specific information through a listening task using a text about vocabulary of homes and furniture

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-Show a picture of a house from inside; what do you think is it? what are the names of these rooms? what can u see in the bedroom? -Ss will stick the names of furniture on the house in two groups.

Test 1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

-Set the listening task -Demonstrate -SS will fill in gaps,check in pairs. -Play again and put the answers on projector.

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

-Students the task wit demo -clarify on board the form; There+verb to be+article+object. -Drill There's a piano There are some glasses in the cupboard. Is there a fridge? and sho intonation

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

-Each three student will read the dialogue in the listening task

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

-Students will do a task -show a picture of a house and let them ask; How many bedrooms are there? Is there a study? _Student can mingle ask each other questions using are there/is there..
