Main Aims

To provide a review and practice of simple present structures in the context of TV shows. By the end of this lesson, students will be able to clarify the use of present simple tense mixed with some daily routines and use them properly being.
Subsidiary Aims
-
To encourage students to identify grammar structures and use them properly in real life when having conversations about routines and topics using the present tense.
Procedure (37-42 minutes)
I will show names of some famous TV shows and I will let students discuss what is their Top 3 They will do this activity in pairs or threes depending the number of students in the class. I will nominate one student to listen to her / his answer.
As a prediction task, I will show the students two pictures of two famous actors and I will ask them to guess their daily routine. I will nominate two students to share their answers with the group. After this speculation task I will send them to the break out rooms where in pairs or groups they will read about the day to day life of these actors. (depending on the number of students they might use the dialogue as a role play).
I will share a wordwall link with a quiz where students can identify the structures of present simple and some key points for this tense. They will play it in pairs or groups in BOR. I will show a slide with the answers and go through specific questions or correcting errors for meaning , form and pronunciation.
I will share a worksheet with the students and they will answer to it individually. I will nominate some students to share their answers with the group and then I will show them the right answers and address any possible question.
I will share a link or worksheet with an unjumbling exercise. Students will go to BOR and solve this activity in groups, once they have finished the exercise, they will use these questions to have a conversation with their partners related to TV shows. I will be monitoring the activity in every room listening to make future corrections.
I will show the students some common errors when using present simple structures. I will nominate students to correct the mistakes. I will answer additional questions.
