Main Aims

• To provide students with MPF of the Present Perfect tense and to differentiate its meaning from the Past Simple tense.
Subsidiary Aims

• To provide students with speaking for fluency using the present perfect tense to share their life experiences

• To provide practice writing for accuracy by designing questions using the present perfect.
Procedure (33-49 minutes)
At this stage SS are provided with an HO designed by the teacher to answer some questions about their life experiences : Have you ever tied bungee jumping ? Yes, I have. / No, I haven't . Have you ever ridden a horse ? Yes, I have. / No, I haven't .
Firs Ss are going to match the countries name and flags on CB exercise 1 , then they are going to check the countries that they have visited before on CB exercise 2, to talk about their travel experience.
1-How is the present perfect formed? Elicit the answers from SS . Write the form on the board and ask SS to discuss if this is correct or not. 2-Ask SS to find the regular and irregular verbs in the text (p121)and let them discuss and get feedback. 3-Ask them when to use the present perfect ?draw their attention to the grammar spot on CB p 121.
Clarify when to use the present perfect and the forms of "have". (Exercises 2 and 5 .p 121)
SS look at the verbs on exercise 1, p122. Teacher asks them to find the base form of past participle verbs from the HO1(Past participle verbs list)
SS are provided with HO2 by the teacher, they are going to complete the gaps with present perfect of the verbs in the brackets and share their answers in the groups.
SS are going to ask and answer some questions about experiences on p 122 and share their experience with the class.
