Grammar Lesson ( Future Forms)

Description

In this lesson, Ss learn about the future forms through guided discovery based on a listening activity about an environmental project in Costa Rica. The lesson starts with a short video about environmental problems and projects, which is followed by a group discussion about effective projects. Then the listening part is done, leading Ss to relate the story with the use of grammar. There is some controlled practice through a blog and also some of the grammar-focus exercises can be used if it is needed. Finally, semi-controlled and free practice is done via speaking activities.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of Future Forms through different skills and help Ss use the target grammar forms via speaking activities.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice Future Forms in a variety of context.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

A short video will be played to take the attention of the Ss to the subject. Then a group discussion will be held about the video.

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

The listening part will be covered to relate the subject with the grammar part.

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Matching exercise is done to make Ss understand the rules in an inductive way.

Clarification (6-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

PPT will be used to clarify the use of Future Forms.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Ss underlines the correct forms in the blog, then some of the exercises are done in the Grammar-Focus part.

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-7 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Quizizz is done for further practice. After having the leaderboard, T will go through the questions to make Ss understand their mistakes. Then the speaking part on the book will be done in pairs.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ss will have a discussion about life in 2050 using the grammar form they have learned.
