Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a postcard in the context of travel.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide scan and detailed reading of a postcard to check for completeness.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students will be shown about 15 pictures of landmarks. Students will be asked to consider why they are being shown these pictures. Students will be asked what pictures of landmarks and travel have in common.

Text Analysis (13-14 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

T will share postcard written for class. T will share target language: phrases commonly communicated on a post card. "Going Great" "Really Enjoy" "Having a blast" Talk to you later/soon Take Care T will share MFP for TL (Google Slides) Ss will be asked to identify different sections of the postcard: (Addressee, greeting, travel and activity update, closing)

Writing their Own Postcard. (15-17 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Students will compose their own postcard. Early completers will find a picture that would accompany their postcard. Students will work by themselves.

Feedback (10-10 minutes) • To provide students an opportunity to check their writing with their partner.

Ss will share their post card with partner in BOR. Provide Ss with an online checklist so that they can check a peer´s email against lesson aims. https://www.checkli.com/checklists/guest_view/61f9f1d3513b8 T will monitor discussions T will offer DEC and OCFB during last 3-5 minutes
