Description
Main Aims
-
To extend Ss ability to use functional language of asking/answering about jobs & where people live using 3rd persons singular & plural.
Subsidiary Aims
-
Speaking, listening
Procedure (36-49 minutes)
I will start with showing some pictures to the students related to the jobs as well as the flags of the countries
I will explain to the students that they are going to take turns to exchange info with their partner in order to complete a table about people's jobs and the countries they are from. Then the class will be divided into pairs, part A will be given to students A and part B to students B. I will tell them not to show them to each other. Students look at the info on their table and take turns to say a sentence and ask a question: Lee is from Hong Kong. What's his job? Each partner listens and writes the missing info on his/her table until it is complete. I will encourage them to spell the words for them as they write. When they have finished, students take turns to read the info back to their partner.
I will divide the students into groups of six and will cut up one of the completed worksheets for each group, so that we will have separate strips of info, with a name, country and job on each strip. I will hand out one strip to each student in the group but I will not strips that have two names. Students read the info on the strip of the person to their right then they will introduce that person to the group. This is Pedro. He is from Brazil. He is a firefighter.
Very brief review of what "I" did.
