Procedure (38-54 minutes)
T shows flash cards to elicit the verbs which have different spelling rules in Present Simple such as study, wash, watch, go, do, and have. Writes the elicited verbs on WB which leads to the topic of the lesson.
Sts choose the verbs in the paragraph about Carol and T writes them on the WB. Then T explains the verb spelling rules for third person in Present Simple.
Sts fills out the gaps in given ex 4b to practice in pairs and compare their answers. T clarifies negative sentence form and word order once again. Sts completes the present simple form of verbs given in ex 6a.
T has students listen to the pronunciation, identify, and practice verbs in the recording which have different sounds at the end.
Reading starts with Introduction of Tom who is Carol's brother and followed by the controlled practice. Sts reads a paragraph about Tom and fill out the gaps with given verbs in bracket in correct form of Present Simple in pairs.
Student A completes the questions on pg 89 and B on pg 95 individually, then ask questions each other and answer. Then tells answers the other students in the class.
Student A writes 2 true and 2 false sentence about Carol and student B writes the same for Tom. Ask students to close their books and by taking turn students say their sentences each other and the other one identifies which ones are true and false.
