Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

• T. shows a jambord to students • Teaches asks students about the images • Teacher or students say “Family tree” • T. Asks students to talk about their family tree • T. Models his family tree • T. breaks ss in break out rooms to talk about it (1- 2 min) • Students share in Open Class feedback

Exposure & Highlighting (5-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

• T. shares a google site link • T. explains to Ss. they will read a text • SS answer the exercise. • Ss. will check their answers in pairs. (Ss. will work in breakout rooms if possible) (2 min - PW) • Ss. will share their answers with the whole class. • Teacher asks students about the words in bold.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

• Teacher shares the link to a presentation • Teacher asks students to look at the samples and discuss which rule corresponds to each statement in break out rooms (2 min) • T elicits answers and connects the colored lines with the correct model. • Teacher shows the second slide and explains Form • Teacher shows the pronunciation slide and checks intonation

Controlled Practice (4-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

• T. shares link to a google form where SS will practice the differences between ‘s uses (3 min) • Ss. will check their answers in pairs. (Ss. will work in breakout rooms if possible) (2 min - PW) • Ss. will share their answers with the whole class. (if time allows) T. asks why they give their particular answers. (2 min) • T. Monitors for mistakes

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-8 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

• T. shares link, on zoom’s chat, to a google form where Ss build possessive statements with the prompts. • Ss. will check their answers in pairs. (Ss. will work in breakout rooms if possible) (2 min - PW) • Ss. will share their answers with the whole

Free Practice (5-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

• Teacher shares a jamboard for students • Teacher asks students to write the names of 3 family members • Teacher asks students to ask questions about the 3 names “who are they?” What do they do?” “Do they have children?” • Ss. work in breakout rooms if possible (3 to 5 min). • Students share their answers in Open Class feedback • Teacher monitors

Feedback & DEC (3-4 minutes) • to give on follow up on the free practice task and provide error correction

• After the Free Practice T. will nominate some Ss. to share their classmate's answers. • T. uses on zoom chat box to write down mistakes heard during the follow-up and correct them with the Ss.
