Procedure (36-47 minutes)
Ask the questions: 1- When is it difficult to get a job? 2- What can you do to increase your chances of employment? Give your own answrs, ellicit responses from students.
GIST READING Have students read the text. (3 min) Ellicit repsonsese to the gist questions: (1 min) Why is Bonnie unemployed? Why is Harry unemployed? INTENSIVE READING Go over the PS + PC instances from th text. Ellicit answers from the students. Go over snwers on following slide.
Inrtoduce Present Simple + Example Slide Inrtoduce Present Continuous + Example Slide
Go over and do gap fill excercise as a group on next two slides, using the text we read earlier. Ask if there are any questions about why something has been used ini each instance.
Open handout with class in Google Forms. Model the first excercise on screen share, no matter how much time it takes. Allow them 5 minutes to complete handout Push into BOR to compare answers and ask them to give reasons why they chose what they did.
Have students read the following questions for free practice. Answer them your self. 1- What does unemployment look like in your country? Does your country offer support? 2- Is it tough for older or younger people to get jobs? Push into BOR for 5 minutes to discuss.
Correct any mistakes noted while monitoring Free Speaking exercises. Allow additional questions.
