Procedure (36-46 minutes)
T shares screen with students "Shows Chinese Flag". T ask students if they know this flag. T then ask "What do you know about China?" "Languages, famous people & places, history & culture, sports?" Give Ss a minute to think of their response. While students are thinking T shares her answer to the question. T elicits a response from students.
Instructions- Please read the article and choose which of these you think is the most suitable title. You have 2 minutes to reach the article. T asks 3 students their answers. T shows students the answers.
Instruction- Look at the article again. Focus on the highlighted sentences. Match the sentences with their meanings. T does an example with the class. ICQ: Are you going to read the entire article? (no) You have 3 minutes. T shares screen with answers. Ask students to check their answers. Answer any questions.
T will ask CCQs to cover meaning. CCQ: (PP simple) Q1: Did he go to the modern cities in the past? (Yes) Q2: Do we know exactly when he visited other modern cities? (no) Q3: Is the focus on his experience or on a specific trip? (His experience) CCQ: (PP continuous) CCQ: Q1: Is he in China now? (Yes) Q2: Does he visit China frequently? (yes) Form PP simple- subject + have/'ve or has/'s + past participle PP continuous - subject+ have/'ve or has/'s +been+ verb+ing. To cover pronunciation T focuses on sound stress and intonation. T will model pronunciation using the MERD model.
