Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students will be presented with the topic for the lesson. They will be encouraged to give their opinion on several prompt questions pertaining to the differences between men and women, specifically in their home country.

Pre-Teach Vocabulary (5-6 minutes) • To familiarize students with key vocab from the listening.

Will present phrases through PowerPoint covering both part of speech and pronunciation. Will elicit responses from the students asking them questions about the meaning and utility of the vocab in order to ensure a thorough understanding.

While Listening #1 (8-10 minutes) • To ensure students get a general understanding of the listening as this will be the first time they hear it.

Students will need to put several events in order as they appear in the listening. Students will be encouraged to check their answers in group chat. General questions will be asked to ensure understanding of the conversation

While Listening #2 (10-12 minutes) • For students to listen for more detailed and specific information from the text.

Student will listen to the text again (more than once if necessary) and answer questions on the material in short answer form. Breakout rooms will be used for students to discuss their answers before presenting them with the correct answers.

Detailed Task (speaking) (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on their ideas about gender roles.

Students will be given two prompt questions relating to the topic of men and women. I will give some examples in order to make sure they have an understanding of the questions. They will be put into breakout rooms to discuss the questions. After BR students will be selected to share what they heard from other that they may have found interesting.
