Description

In this lesson,students learn and practice antonyms through creating a poster.First, students remember their prior knowledge about antonyms with "Let's Spot the Opposites PPT". Second, poster cards will be introduced and one example will be done through one card like "fast-slow". Third, students will create a poster by using these cards.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Review of Antonyms -Let’s Spot the Opposites- PPT will be shown and teacher will ask if they remember any antonyms and which one do they remember.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Teacher informs the students that they will create a poster of antonyms.As an example, teacher shows one of the cards like -slow- and asks students what is the antonym of it. Teacher sticks two cards on cardboard like they are pieces of puzzle.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Teacher shows -slow- and -fast- card and says -The opposite of slow is- and students completes with -fast-.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Students (in pairs) come in front of the class and they try to find two cards that fit each other and stick these cards on cardboard. Pair of students will create one sentence together and write it on the board like: The antontym of black is white.

Feedback and Error Correction • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

During the activity teacher provides correction and help
