To provide process writing practice of writing an email in the context of asking for advice from a friend
Procedure (45-55 minutes)
Lead-in (1 minute) - Students are showed two images on screen and asked " What are they doing?" (asking for advice) - Students are nominated and encouraged to share their responses TASK (1 minutes) - Students are asked "Do you ask your friend for advice?" "When?" POST-TASK (2 minutes) - Some students are nominated and encouraged to share their responses - Students are provided with delayed error correction (DEC) if necessary
SETTING THE STAGE (1 minute) - Students are told to be aware of the diffrenec between ADVISE and ADVICE to use it in context during the lesson correclty. - Students are told they will write an email to ask for advice from a friend. TASK 1 (2 minutes) - Students are asked "Do you know the parts of an email and its purpose?" (Yes /no ) "Let's review them together" - Students are provided with a sample of an email and will be aware of the parts of an email as they elicit and drill with teacher. TASK 2 (4 minutes) -Students are asked to fill the gaps of some expressions that they listened on the email sample given individually. - Students are shown a demonstration . - Students are sent the link of the task by chat. - Students are asked to check their answers with the Answer Key shared on the screen. - Students are provided with delayed error correction (DEC) if necessary.
- Students are presented with some expressions (useful language) from the previous task and are asked to pay attention to the form of the phrases to ask for advice from a friend on the corresponding parts of an email on Google Presentation. - Teacher will send a link with a PDF so they can use this expressions when writing an email.
SETTING THE STAGE (2 minutes) - Students are asked to write an email "asking for advice from a friend". - Students are asked to choose from two situations to start brainstorming ideas to write their emails on their devices and are asked to take a screenshot of their final email. - Students are asked to write their email using the expressions learned during the lesson. - Students are told they will be sent to breakout rooms after ( 8 mins ) so they can share their email to a classmate by sharing their screens in a BOR using the expressions from the PDF. (4 minutes)
- Students are nominated and encouraged to share their responses - Students are provided with delayed error correction (DEC) if necessary - Students are asked to send their email to the teacher for personal feedback about their writing task.
