T hand SS a paper with 6 sentence (which are actually topics for each paragraphs of the listening and asks them to discuss in pairs and write down their ideas which are going to be their predictions of the listening.
In this stage SS are going to listen for the first time. While task: before listening T tells SS that they are going to listen to 6 parts of an interview of a model and asks them to listen to each part, and number topics from task 1(pre-listening task) according to the order in which model discusses them. so each part will be played with a 10 seconds pause after it(give SS a chance to match topics and text read). Then SS check their answers in pairs and then T checks the WC.
To understand more clearly, SS have the listening repeated. new words and vocabulary are explained in this stage. while task- controlled practice: SS are given a folded paper with groups of phrases written on it (phrases from the listening) on the upper part and the definitions on the other, SS are not allowed to unfold the paper. when they listen for the second time, after each part T pauses and SS have a chance to circle the phrase they hear for each part, when listening is finished SS check their answers in pairs. then T asks them to unfold the paper and match definitions to the phrases they heard with the help of their partners. While monitoring,T finds out the words that need explanation and teach afterwards.
class is divided into two groups. Team A sits in a group on one side of the classroom, Team B sits on the other side. Bring two chairs to the front of the room so that when seated, a student is facing his or her respective team and their back is to the blackboard or white board. One member from each team sits in their team's chair. The teacher writes a word, phrase, or sentence on the board related to the TL. The students in the chairs mustn't see what's written on the board. Once the teacher yells 'go', the teams have less than 1 minute to get their seated teammate to say the item written on the board. The only rule (or taboo) is that they MUSTN'T say the item written on the board, in full or part. The first student in the hot seat to utter the word scores a point for their team. When the round is over, two new team players are rotated into the hot seat and a new word or phrase is written up. The team that scores more points, wins.
