To provide detailed, inference and scan reading practice using a text about using chapter 2 text, in the context of David's early life.
Subsidiary Aims

To provide fluency speaking practice in a dialogue, in the context of the events of the chapter.
Procedure (50-25 minutes)
1. In pairs, from the chapter's name, guess what's going to happen next! 2. Share your ideas with me.
Before reading, I will pre-teach the blocking vocabulary that the students might not know. I will provide MPF (meaning, pronunciation, and form) for each word. 1. Meaning: eliciting the meaning by asking questions and asking CCQs. 2. Pronunciation: IPA and Chorally drilling. 3. Mentioning the type of the word and drawing attention to the form.
While reading, I will engage the students with activities and tasks that will provide gist, reading for specific details and information, analyzing, and inference. In pairs, discuss the following: 1. Who were David's new friends? What was unusual about their home? 2. What did you think about Mr and Miss Murdstone? Share your answers with me after discussing them.
